Witnesses Waiting

Some days we are so easily inspired…

And the words – they flow like honey
Other days we wake up so tired;

Our thoughts are neither clever nor funny…

Falling short with growing angst,

For we know the great day is coming –
When God will feed these hunger pangs,

So we hold on before succumbing…

Despite pain, regret and labored breath,

We hold fast in anticipation.
Though our final stop is certain death,

We shall keep watch until creation…

Sees the hate and killing cease –

As we were told in so vivid a vision!
The loving care shall surely increase;

That’s why He sent us on this mission…

To witness as both the rich and poor,

The joyous and downtrodden;
The loved and lonely and many more,

None shall be forgotten.

Ambivalent and sure – both we’ve been,

The actor and the audience
Empathy and compassion begin again,

And His mercy is so immense.

And when we die, making no more sound,

The Earth shall begin to rumble
Departed souls return from the ground,

And dark hearts will surely crumble.

Then there shall exist no more doubt,

because He shows all in a twinkling
What His promise is all about –

Each other’s praises we will be singing!

Ask today for His bread and forgiveness;

And freedom from the tempting – To
Him we pray; and contritely confess.

Now we wait for the new beginning.

The lion roared and the thunders sounded,

And now the time is come to write:
He shall judge with purest Love unbounded,

For we are so precious in His sight.

You have been chosen,

though you get no reward,

but you get to hear of the

Scholar and the Sword.

.

The face is now in the sky, that will shout the words

Although others were not listening, by us they were earlier heard.

Yet a smile, and a sudden warmth, reassures our spirits.

Our calling was pre-ordained, not by earthly merits.

.

The love of a moving mountain, the faith of the smallest seed.

Seeing only light over darkness, can quench our ageless need.

I stand amazed and humbled more,

that His mercy shall come to show.

What wisdom may serve to nurture, for it is Him we already know.
